In “What is a Picture?” from the Four Fundamental Concepts of Psychoanalysis, Lacan notes that suture is

“a conjunction of the imaginary and the symbolic” (118).

Jacques-Alain Miller

In an article in Screen, Miller notes that

“Suture names the relation of the subject to the chain of its discourse”
