Anti-cathexis

A process of internal frustration that, evolved from experiences of external frustration, sets up and maintains a repression. It involves the withdrawal of libido from whatever is being repressed. Anti-cathexes also opposes the impulsive cathexes otherwise made by the id toward objects. See cathexis.
