Template:ConceptNavbox/doc
{{ConceptNavbox}} is the master navigation box for concept pages in this psychoanalytic encyclopedia. It is meant to remain curated (short, high-signal lists) while handing off deeper navigation to hub pages and specialized sub-navboxes.
It functions as the encyclopedia’s global orientation spine and should appear on most core concept articles.
Usage
Basic:
{{ConceptNavbox}}
Expanded (recommended for hub pages):
{{ConceptNavbox|state=expanded}}
Custom title:
{{ConceptNavbox|title=Psychoanalytic concepts (core)}}
Recommended placement:
- Bottom of core concept pages (e.g., Desire, Signifier, Castration, Jouissance)
- Bottom of hub pages (usually with
state=expanded)
Parameters
state-
collapsed(default)expanded
title-
- Overrides the navbox title (default: “Psychoanalytic concepts”)
Editing guidelines
- Keep each group list short (roughly 5–7 links), prioritizing structurally central concepts.
- Use More… links to point to hub pages rather than expanding lists indefinitely.
- A concept may appear in more than one group when it functions as a bridge term (e.g., Anxiety across clinic, affect, and jouissance).
- Avoid adding highly specialized terms directly to the master template; place those in sub-navboxes and hub pages.

Sub-navboxes and hub pages
Sub-navboxes represent stable analytic axes. They are typically placed:
- On their corresponding hub page (usually with
state=expanded) - On concept pages where that axis is primary (usually only one sub-navbox per concept page)
Below is the current set, organized by axis. Each entry includes:
- the recommended hub page
- the sub-navbox template
- a copy-paste usage example

Suggested placement rules
- Most concept pages should include {{ConceptNavbox}} plus at most one sub-navbox.
- Hub pages may include multiple sub-navboxes (typically
state=expanded). - Create new sub-navboxes only when they represent a stable axis used across many articles (not merely a one-off theme list).
Tracking and maintenance
If a sub-navbox is renamed or split:
- Update the relevant hub page link above
- Update the navbox template name
- Keep the usage example in sync with the template’s parameters
